1993 McDonald's RocDonald's Predawn Mug

Back in 1993 McDonald's put out a clever little set of Flintstones 'RocDonald's' glass mugs. Holding 8oz of fluid they were made in the U.S. and France. This particular mug was made in the U.S.. Of the four glasses offered this is my favorite because of all the neat little details the incorporated into the design. So without further ado - Enjoy!

Flintstones Mugs - Pt 1 Mammoth Mug

Up until now Toys & Stuff has been featuring small scale Flintstones figures and cars, and such. For a few weeks I think we'll hit upon some of the larger items. These 8oz. glass RocDonald's Flintstones mugs were made back in 1993 as tie-ins to the first 'Flintstones' movie and are not really toys but rather practical - and whimsical - accessories. At one time I thought it would be rather neat to set up a small sitting area in The Cave, replete with Flintstones themed stuff like these mugs. However, The Cave is so short on space as it is so there will definitely be no sitting area in there any time soon.

They'renicely detailed and one has to look closely to appreciate the little details molded into them. Two of the mugs were made here in the U.S., while two of them were made in France. The Mammoth Mug featured today is French and resembles a stumpy Mammoth tusk - a rather nice touch. Enjoy!

McDonald's U.S. 1993 Rocking Dino

For the past several weeks Toys & Stuff has covered the McDonald's Happy Meal tie-in's to the very popular "The Flintstones" live action 1993 movie. Most of the toys in the series were miniature buildings and vehicles representing the town of Bedrock. However today's toy is not actually a part of that series because its meant for kids under 3 years old and is a Rocking Dino. It's solid, not hollow, soft to the touch, and being fairly firm is 'squeezable' but not 'crushable'. For grown-ups this would make a nifty stress reliever at the office desk!I and my Wife Enjoy it and Hope you all Enjoy!

McDonald's 1993 Flintstone's In-Store Display

Today we put  the cap on McDonald's Happy Meal tie-ins to 'The Flintstones' movie with this nifty  in-store display. It's a 3-D, heavy cardstock display utilizing all five buildings and cars. The display ships flat and each toy is in its normal plastic retail packaging. I used to have a mint example still in the original shipping box but I think I sold it some years back opting to keep the used one as it was actually used in a store.

The display is a little tricky to put together and I can fully imagine some poor fumble-fingered manager trying to assemble this, ultimately giving up and calling for one of the more nimble younger employees to help! LOL  The toys originally were held in place by double-face foam tape. On my example I can tell where the tape was, but for photography purpose everything is sitting loose on the display. The display measures 20 1/4"  (51.4cm) W x 6 3/4 (17.1cm) D x 18 5/8" (47.3cm) H. Enjoy!

McDonald's U.S. 1993 Translite

During the past five weeks Toys & Stuff has been featuring the 1993 McDonald's Happy Meal toys that were licensed tie-in to the popular 'The Flintstones' live action movie. What we have today is a translite used to advertise the toys in-house. A translite is a piece of glass or plastic lit from behind on which a photographic image has been produced. You'll notice translites used in nearly every fast food joint on the planet. However, there is a new technology taking their place - flat screen monitor displays. Now that the cost of flat screen monitors has gone down, I've noticed them replacing the traditional translite display boxes. It makes sense too, after all you no longer have to worry about a physical diplay being delivered on-time and in one piece or that the light(s) have burnt out in the display ultimately saving the company $$. I'd kinda like to have a translite box but there were actually too many sizes and I wouldn't have room for them anyway. Anyway, the sign is really cool - Enjoy!

McDonald's U.S. Betty, Bamm-Bamm & Roc Donald's

Today is the last building in our coverage of 1993s McDonald's 'Flintstones' movie tie-ins. There is one more toy from this year but it doesn't really fit in with the rest of the offerings. We'll cover the mystery toy in a few weeks. For now though let's look at Betty, Bamm-Bamm & Roc Donald's. (I love the play on words used throughout the movie franchise for various locations and businesses, like Toy-S-Aurus and Roc Donald's. What a hoot!) Enjoy!
