McDonald's UK Roc Donald's

Today is the last in our series of "The Flintstones" movie tie-ins offered by McDonald' UK back in 1994. This is the prehistoric version of McDonald's: Roc Donald's! I love the play on words that were a part of both the original cartoon series as well as the movies. On this toy, each of the walls slides open allowing you to place toys on the inside and each wall panel has a different peel-&-stick applique'. The base measures 4 1/2" (10.8cm) x 4 1/2" and is 3" (7.6cm) H. McDonald's UK Flintstones Wilma and Dino in Flivver

Our Flintstones Friday offering today is another in the McDonald's UK series, Wilma and Dino in Flivver. I don't know who first gave the Flintstones car the name of Flivver. Marx made a terrific tin-litho Flintstones car in the '60s and called it a Flivver but I'm not sure if that name was ever actually used in the original cartoon. Today's toy measures 3" (7.6cm) L x 2" (5.1cm) W x 2 3/8" (6cm) H.

This series of toys was a licensed tie-in to the live action Flintstones movie and consisted of only four toys:

-Fred  on Dino Crane
-Bus
-Wilma and Dino in Flivver
-Roc Donald's

The figures are designed to look like the live action movie actors and not the original cartoon characters and even though there were only four toys, they make a great addition to any miniature Town of Bedrock. Enjoy!

McDonald's UK 1994 Flintstones Bus

After accidentally posting today's Flintstones Friday entry three days ago I have to make it up somehow - howz about posting a Flintstones toy? LOL Oh well no harm done. There are four toys in this series of "The Flintstones" movie tie-ins offered by McDonald's UK in 1994 and today we'll feature the bus. It measures 3 1/2" (8.9cm) L x 1 3/4" (4.4cm) H x 2 1/8" (5.4cm) W and when you roll it along the table the feet seen underneath the bus go back and forth. A welcome addition to any miniature town of Bedrock. Enjoy!

Well, I got off my backside this past weekend and managed to take some Flintstones photos! Now we can go back to Flintstones Friday for awhile. Back in May, June, and July we did a series about McDonald's U.S. tie-ins to "The Flintsones" movie. The series we're starting today will cover the McDonald's U.K. tie-ins to that movie and they are made to look like the live action actors in the movie. There weren't as many pieces in the U.K. series - only four - but they still add an interesting group of toys to populate your version of Bedrock! Let's start by featuring Fred on his iconic Dino Crane. When you press down on Fred's head both the head and tail raise. The figure is rather small measuring 4 1/2" (11.4cm) head-to-tail (in the down position). It's certainly a much cheaper version than the large Fred on Dino Crane offered by Marx in the early 1960's. Those suckers will set a person back hundreds of dollars for a working version in good condition. This small plastic version may only cost a buck or two. Suits my budget well :-)  Enjoy!
