TRAIN TIME: Lledo #BB1002 Days Gone Brewery - Pt 4 The 'Tall' Building, Chimneys, & Clock Tower

 The last of the three modules for the Lledo Days Gone brewery is what I call the 'Tall' building which measures 6" (15.24cm) W x 3 3/8" (8.57cm) D x 6 1/8" (15.55cm) H. Enjoy! Opa Fritz

This building is interesting in that there are doors on either end of it, meaning one could use this as a stand-alone structure. Neither the gateway nor the short' building have doors on them at all! The gateway should've had doors on the inside to imply entry into the other structures. I wonder how the workers get in and out - through the basement???

I like the use of modular chimneys and the separate clock tower. As seen in the photos, the chimneys were placed any which way I thought they looked good - not necessarily the 'right' way :-)

TRAIN TIME: Lledo #BB1002 Days Gone Brewery - Pt 2 Gateway

Let's look at that arched gateway into the brewery in this segment of the Lledo Days Gone Brewery. This arched entryway is really kind of a classy piece for what is otherwise a straightforward industrial  structure. It occurred to me that should you want to re-purpose this into something else, a new sign could be printed in on magnetic stock - the stuff you would use to print refrigerator magnets on. The photos are bit on the plain-jane side but what the heck, it is what it is. The gateway measures 4 3/4" (12.06cm) W x 3 3/8" (8.57cm) D 5 3/8 H (to top of roof), 6 1/8" (15.55cm) H (to top of peaked front piece). Enjoy! Opa Fritz

When I compare the brick artwork on this to other tin-litho buildings, these Lledo pieces come across as rather weak and fuzzy. Still, it serves the purpose.

It probably would've been better to post this a couple of weeks ago when I was doin' British train stuff hot & heavy, but hey, I'm old - I forgot LOL The building is designed for OO scale, but overall this is a decent structure for just about any O-gauge train layout as well. The design of the buildings allows it to fit into any number of American layouts and is reminiscent of breweries located all over the States. It's modular nature means you can use it in a number of configurations or even omit a building if train layout real estate is at a premium. The center arched gateway module can be omitted altogether and the other two re-purposed into generic factories. The quality of the set is however lacking in a couple of respects. The litho detail is not at all crisp and is rather 'fuzzy', but overall still serviceable. The roofs are covered with gray paper to simulate a tarred roof I imagine, but as you can see by the photos, the paper on one of the buildings is loose. Even the printing on the front of the box has an error - I'll let you guys try and spot it! In our next segment's we'll see each module in a full photo essay. Enjoy! Opa Fritz

I had hoped to use this on the new layout and here it is set up in front of the Menard's Sprecher Brewery when the layout was still in its early planning stages. While the Lledo set is still appropriate for O-gauge layouts, when placed next to the Sprecher Brewery - which is full O-scale - it does look woefully small and out of proportion. I think it would look better when mixed in with Marxville/K-Lineville/Plasticville sized structures which are actually closer to S-gauge than they are O-gauge.

The set has a lot going for it: three structures, three loose chimneys, a loose clock tower, and a beer delivery lorry

Overall the complex is 18 3/4" (47.62cm) W

The modular design of all the pices in the set allows for a multitude of possibilities
