Tri-ang Earth Launch Pad Set #1176-20 - Pt 3 Vehicles, Aircraft, and Figures

The Earth Launch Pad set included the pieces listed below. As I've already posted full photo essays of the types vehicles and aircraft included, I'm just going to give a quick photo overview (besides, I'm not feeling good again! The granddaughter had caught another cold and I think I'm coming down with it - damn!!) Be Blessed and Relish Life! Ed

Here's what came in the set:

1 Mobile Launch Pad (covered in yesterday's post)

-1 each Forklift 7

-1 each Tractor T-5

-1 each Rocket Ship 'Hawk'

-2 each Helicopter P3

-4 each figures

The following photos were all taken years ago and already blogged here on Toys and Stuff. I simply didn't want to re-invent the wheel and re-do all of the photos. Except for the Helicopter P3, all the pieces that came in my set were in decent shape.

Forklift 7

Tractor T-5

It looks too yellow here - the result of poor editing on my part I'm afraid. It is in fact a orange-yellow tone

Rocket Ship 'Hawk

Helicopter P3 x 2

My set came with one intact P3 and one broken and incomplete P3. Since then I have gotten replacement pieces.

Figures x 4

The figures included in Tri-ang's big sets were all thrown in at random. Here's the poses that were available and any four of these would have been selected for inclusion. As my set was missing a couple of figures I went into my collection and pulled out a couple of pieces to complete it.

Tri-ang Earth Launch Pad Set #1176-20 - Pt 1

While I was preparing to cover this Earth Launch Pad Set #1176-20, I was looking at my photo files and turns out I never blogged my Superset 1 either! Okay, so we'll take a look at this Earth Launch Pad set and afterwards take a look at Superset 1. Be Blessed and Relish Life! Ed

Tri-ang basically divided its line of small space toys into four separate series:

-Earth Base

-Space Station

-Moon Base

-Outer Space Travel

Within each series, four or five individual carded toys would be offered, for example this Helicopter P3. Each card held a piece of equipment and any one of a dozen different figure's packaged at random.

As well, slightly larger boxed sets were also offered featuring a large toy from the series like this SpaceX Moon Base HQ.

Welll, if that wasn't all, Tri-ang repackaged a bunch of toys into Supersets! I know of four:

-Superset 1 having a mix of land vehicles and spaceships, and a large vacu-form Moonscape

-Earth Launch Pad Set featuring the Mobile Launch Pad with rocket, two helicopters, a couple of ground vehicles, Swing wing Hawks, and a large paper playmat

-Moonbase Set featuring the Moonbase HQ set along with several land vehicles and a couple of spaceships

-Space Station Set featuring the Nuclear Pulse Space Station and several spaceships

To start things off let's see what ended up getting delivered when this was ordered a few years back.

Originally, the set as sold contained:
-Mobile Launch Pad

-Two Helicopter P3's

-Forklift 7

-Tractor T-5

-Rocket Ship 'Hawk'

-4 Figures

Paper launch site playmat

Lots of wrapped-up goodies when delivered

When I took out this cardboard insert, lo-&-behold, underneath was the intact paper playmat!

Without toys

Loaded with the toys from the purchase

37" (93.98cm) x 28" (71.12cm)

My set was delivered with a few extras. Looking closely at the photos, on the far left you can make out the components of the Deluxe Reading Rocket Base U.S.A. clone I just finished blogging.

My set was complete in that it had all the major components, however, there were a couple of small issues:

-One helicopter had broken landing gear and a missing rotor (a replacement rotor has since been found)

-The Mobile Launch Pad is missing the two tiny walkways which lead from the gantry to the rocket

Triang SpaceX Rocket Ship 'Hawk' (Golden Astronaut Swing Wing 'Hawk' Substitute)

The 'Hawk' aircraft I'm posting here is a Golden Astronaut substitute HOWEVER, while I took this toy out of the original GA blister card (that's why I know it's Golden Astronaut) I see no difference in this toy or of the photos of the Triang SpaceX 'Hawk' on the SpaceX Central website except perhaps the Triang "Hawk' may have come in a darker shade of orange as well, but the peel-&-stick appliqué and the striping is the same on both. So here's the deal. I'll post a couple pics of this GA 'Hawk' today and when we get to the Golden Astronaut series I'll post the full complement of photos then. The origins for this can be found on SpaceX Central. The 'Hawk' measures 4" (10.16cm) L x 1 3/4" (4.44cm) wingspan (wings retracted) / 2 5/8" (6.66cm) wingspan (wings deployed) x 1" (2.54cm) H. Enjoy! Opa Fritz
