Imperial Toy Apollo Moon Exploring Set No. 304E

The Mobile Launch Pad (or Platform) included in this set is a really nice, w-a-y scaled down version, of just about any other vintage toy launch pad out there. Even the SpaceX/GA MLP's were about 3x the size. But for such a small toy, it packs enough play punch. The pad itself is on wheels and rolls freely to your launch site, the gantry slides forwards and backwards, the elevator raises and lowers, and the rocket is spring loaded for a quick launch into 'space' :-) The MLP takes its design cues from other - larger - toys of the era as can be seen on SpaceX Central. I was fortunate enough to latch on to two different colored pads, although the blue one has a defect. There is a void at the top of the gantry, perhaps the result of the mold cooling too much to allow the liquid plastic to settle into all the crevices. As a result the whole gantry sits a tad wonky. Overall, the MLP measures 3" (7.62cm) D x 1 1/2" (3.81cm) W x 4" (10.16cm) H. The rocket is 4 1/2" (11.43cm) H x ca 1/2" (12.7cm) dia. Enjoy! Opa Fritz
