Imperial Toy Apllo Moon Exploring Set No. 304B

This latest series of posts highlights toys made LP Toys (Lik Be Plastic and Metal Factory of Hong Kong) and sold by Imperial Toy of Los Angeles, CA in agreement with LP. Here Stateside they were sold under the "Apollo Moon Exploring" banner. It should be noted that what we'll show here in the next couple of weeks is only a small portion of LP's space toy output. Unfortunately, not all of their small space toys made it as Apllo Moon Explorating offerings.

The second set in the series offers some nice equipment and a rather odd looking craft. It consist of one figure of the type we're used to seeing in the Triang SpaceX / Multiple Toymakers Golden Astronaut sets, communications gear, and a golfball 'flying saucer' on wheels. Apparently, LP was sourced by Triang to make figures for their SpaceX line. The only difference is that the 'LP' logo underneath the figure is missing from the Triang line. Enjoy! Opa Fritz

The two packages show random figure placement

As I've already done complete photo work-ups for these figures for the Triang SpaceX / Multiple Toymakers Golden Astronaut lines I'm going to dispense with that for this series. The only difference is the bottom of the 'LP' figures has "Made in Hong Kong" and 'LP' logo while the Triang figures had "Made in Hong Kong". If you want to learn more, SpaceX Central covers the logo history. Enjoy! Opa Fritz

This set provides a really nice set of communications gear: a portable satellite dish on a terrain piece and a separate radio receiver/transmitter

The dish used on this is the same casting as that used on the Triang Mobile Moon Headquarters

The antenna fits into a hole in the rcvr/xmtr and is a loose fit, so that it is hard to sit up straight

With this 'saucer' simply being a ball I chose not take a complete set of pics as I normally do.
Inside the saucer is a barely visible pilot figure

  1. Beautiful photography Ed as always. I love the little moonrock with the radar sticking out. Only the Sixties could give us that [or early Seventies!]. TYou have a marvellous collection of vintage space toys! I hope they're not melting in the record-breaking heat!

    1. Thanx Woodsy!! The toys aren't melting but I am LOL I have my sights on some modern Warhammer buildings to go with the vintage stuff, just to see how that works.
