This third round of small vehicles (1st was cars, 2nd was trucks, 3rd Trolleys/Buses) features either a trolley or electric bus - your preference. Personally, I tend to think of it as an electric bus. The first two photos below were culled from Milwaukee-related facebook (Meta) groups. The second photo shows the type of electric bus which ran on the street about a hundred-ish feet from our house. It ran on Clybourn St. as 'Route 13'. Electric buses were a thing back in the fifties, but they didn't last long and ultimately gave way to gas or diesel powered buses. Enjoy! Opa Fritz
Trolley
See the 'Walgreen's' drugstore there on the corner to the right? Walk down that sidewalk a few buildings and there was the theater I used to work at in downtown Milwaukee, called the 'Towne Theater'.
Electric bus
From visual styling it is close, but the four wheels each side represent a two truck trolley/streetcar.
ReplyDeleteyeah, I s'pose so. It's an interesting little piece though! BTW, in one of my fb groups a guy posted a photo of a pail he bought full of these small vehicles I've been posting. There must have been two or three hundred toys in it and he got it all for only $10!
