Merten seems to be the red-headed step child of the HO scale world but they actually have a fine line of figures although there's no as many as what Preiser offers. Here's what I still have from my collecting frenzy of the late '80 - '90s. Enjoy! Opa Fritz
These may be Merten or Preiser. The boxes were tossed many years ago so I can't say which now
Just had the same ID problem with deer! I think the horses are Preiser, Merten never did Circus per-se, I've eMailed you (in a minute) a scan of the Merten elephants which look like yours, but if there are any Preiser there you will be able to sort them apart.

Thanx Hugh!!! I have a copy of the Preiser catalog somewhere out in The Cave (fairly certain I know where it is) but haven't gotten around to scanning it. I don't have anything on Merten - even got rid of my old Walther's catalog many a moon ago which would have had a ton of reference material
DeleteThe elephants and rhinos were definitely circus worthy and probably even the birds. There were special wagons meant to house birds (I have an unbuilt wooden kit of one)
