Marx Friction Motor Hot Rod No. '76'

Here's another Marx friction motor hot rod, the No. 76 in silver HP. This one is smaller than the No. 2 posted yesterday - which is 5"L - but these photos are old (2009) and I never recorded the dimensions. Also too, the box these are in out in The Cave is buried so I don't have ready access to the car to take measurements and make comparison photos. The first reference to these in my files is the 1955 Sears Wishbook.

Marx Friction Motor Hot Rod No. '2'

I can feel myself getting distracted and restless again. After months of photographing and posting Forces of Valor Little Green Army Men and Flintstones toys I want to move on...

...and I will.  But first I have to finish up those series. In the meantime I'll feel around for the next big project.

While I haven't posted any Marx vehicles for quite some time, I still pick up a piece occasionally like this No. 2 Friction Motor Hot Rod. I have three different sized Marx hot rods in the collection so I'll start with this one. The two front tires on it it are a bit messed up with chunks broken off of them, but I got it cheap and it's only going to be a display piece any way. It measures 5" (12,7cm) L x 2" (5,08cm) W x 2" (5,08cm) H.
