Today is Father's Day here in the States and we're gettin' ready to head out for a little while so I thought I'd post a fun little toy before headin' out, this 1/32 scale diecast jeep with 3 characters from the Beetle Bailey comic strip: Private Beetle Bailey, Sergeant 1st Class Orville P. Snorkle, and Sgt Snorkle's look-alike bulldog Otto. This toy embraces three favorite subjects: Jeeps (namely vintage Jeeps), diecast militaria, and comic characters. I used to read Beetle Bailey all the time back in the day when I was still buying newspapers (remember those?... made from paper with actual news - no mention at all of the Kardasian's - no distracting moving ads, and the closest thing to a 'pop-up' were the circulars). Anywho, Beetle Bailey by Mort Walker, was a popular staple starting in 1950 as a strip in a college paper and continuing today under a different artist. The Jeep measures 4 1/8" (10.47cm) L x 1 7/8" (4.76cm) W x 2 1/4" (5.71cm) H. Enjoy! Opa Fritz and Oma Bettina
