The Auburn Rubber Co. made a lot of cool vehicles and the blog has seen its fair share but up until now they've been mostly military or fire and police. This time around we present a construction vehicle: the Auburn Earth Mover. There's no item number given here because, even though I have three books with toy vehicles and Auburn is covered in all of them, none of their construction vehicles are included!
Because these toys were essentially made to be played with in the dirt, it's hard to find them in half-way decent shape (for example, the earth graders - which I'm still looking for BTW - are always missing the blade). My earth mover is a bit dirty, even after cleaning, and there's some other minor cosmetic issues but overall it's still quite an acceptable piece. It measures 10.5" (26.67cm) L x 3" (7.62cm) W x 2 5/8" (6.666cm) H. The mover has two main parts: the motor unit, and the bucket (is that the right name for it?) which allows it to swivel and turn just like the real thing. Enjoy! Opa Fritz
