I'll have one more small post of beer coasters and then that's it - unless more happen to come my way. All my coasters starting with 'T' are from Tucher Bier and it's interesting to see the old cigarette advertisements on the reverse of two of these. Be Blessed and Relish Life! Ed

I remember the R6 adverts, both as beer mats and on hoardings/bus shelters/the U-barn, probably smoked a few too, they were in the cigarette machines you'd find in the streets! A 5p piece was the same size as a 1-mark coin (about 35p), and five marks got you 21 fags! So . . . welp, the British Military Government made-up the difference once a year!
ReplyDeleteHugh, I remember the stinkerrete machines as well. They hung from the walls of houses, stores, Gaststätte - whatever. However, not being a smoker I never paid attention to the brands they were stocked with. Bettina is a smoker and her poison of choice back in the day was Marlboro. Today, I buy her the absolute cheapest I can find - which happens to be Pall Mall - and they are now up to $85/carton!!! GOOD LORD!!!!
DeleteTry to get her vaping, mate! I was bought a vape for my 50th, and I haven't had a fag for 11 years, dirt cheap too, and I used to smoke camels or Old Holborn (hideously strong rolling tobacco), and while I'm no 'born again' frowner, I hate the smell of cigarettes now!
