Marx Battleground, Training Center, and Other Military Playset Pieces - Trees, Rocks, Fences, Etc.

Well, this post sort of wraps up the larger components of Marx Training Center and Battleground playset pieces. I'm still missing about a half dozen of the larger hard plastic vehicles, and a lot of the really small battle field accessories that came attached to sprues in the playsets. As well, I don't have originals to several pieces - only their repo's - which is actually okay by me.

Today we'll take a quick look at Marx's 'library' of terrain pieces. These were certainly not exclusive to the Training Center and Battleground playsets and could be found in Rev War, American Civil War, Old West, farm, Prehistoric, and any set Marx chose to place them in. I do not have every terrain piece Marx made, but I can still post a bunch.

After this, I'm going to start posting the various figures and figure sets that came in the military playsets - at least those in my collection. Marx made quite a few figure sets over the years and I don't have all of them but I'll do what I can.

Trees

Standard Tree Row

I really like these tree rows and have used them for multiple setups. The rows are scored allowing the user to break off pieces into smaller segments. On the one hand that's really handy, on the other, less and less intact tree rows are available. I've only seen these in hard plastic.

'A' or Delta Tree

Made in hard or soft plastic

Full Tree

I've only seen these in hard plastic - I need to verify if they were also available in soft plastic

Scraggly Tree

I've only seen these in hard plastic - I need to verify if they were also available in soft plastic

Dead Tree

Hard and soft plastic

Multi-piece Trees From Marx Miniature Playsets

I never got around to photographing the individual components, but you can see the trees here.
One had to assemble the branches to the stumps starting with larger ones at the bottom.

Guid - A - Traffic Trees & Hedges

These are approximately HO scale and were included in several small sets.

Tree Stump

These came in soft plastic only, in light and dark gray

Log Fence

Log fences were in hard plastic - repos were soft plastic. They came in white (which often discolors to a cream color) and dark brown (I have dark brown fence pieces out in The Cave - somewhere!)
These are made such that they can be connected by snapping them together at the end.

3-Rail Board Fence

Marx made these mostly for their line of Marxville buildings, marketed with their 3-rail O-gauge trains. Originals are hard plastic. When K-Line got the tooling for these after Marx's demise, they made them in soft plastic.

Split Rail Fence

Unfortunately, I only have these soft plastic repos made by Juguetes Dinamicos de Mexico, S.A. These were common in Civil War playsets

Boulders

Rock Piles

Originals were hard plastic, repos soft plastic.

Three-Piece Terrain

Here's one that was used in various Prehistoric playsets. Hard plastic
