TootsieToy #1736 Jet Flight Line (1979) - Pt 3 Refueling Truck

The refueling truck in TootsieToy's Jet Flight Line set is nice but the only thing they got right was the color! The photo's below are the only somewhat decent shots I have of a fuel truck from that era. The truck is yellow! Yellow is correct for CONUS bases, while bases overseas painted their trucks in olive green or olive drab. TootsieToy placed an applique' with "AMOCO Aviation Fuel" emblazoned on the tank side. This may have been correct for a civilian airfield but the Air Force didn't go around advertising where they got their fuel from. Back in the '70s JP-4 was the primary jet fuel (today it's JP-8) and that is clearly shown on the side of the truck. Then, there's the size of the truck: TootsieToy's version is quite a bit smaller than the standard truck. The truck measures 3.875" (9.84cm) L x 1.625" (4.12cm) W x 1.875" (4.76cm) H.

This shot is from 1979 and shows a truck that was involved in a rather odd - and dangerous - incident on George Air Force Base. It does show the cab and front portion of the truck, while the photo below it shows the remainder of what these trucks looked like.
