In one of Payton's ads they referred to these jets as 'pursuit planes' - works for me. This one measures 2.25" (5,71cm) L x 2.75" (6,98cm) wingspan x .625" (1,58cm) H. It almost appears as if Payton's designers wanted to add separate wheels for these dinky little planes, but then backed off. You'll notice that instead on one landing gear leg on either wing, there are two. Why? Jets like this didn't have four landing gear legs in real life so I'm guessing Payton started to design it for separate wheels but then just said to heck with it and molded the plane with just the legs and no wheels.
