OOPS! I posted back-to-back posts yesterday when I meant to schedule Fred's house for today. Oh well, it is what it is.
Moving right along, today we're featuring Barney's house. I already covered the mix-up between his and Fred's house yesterday so we'll leave that behind. But a little note about colors. The buildings in Marx's playset were done in a couple of basic colors and several shades of those colors. There were medium browns (no dark browns that I'm aware of), tans, dark gray, medium gray, light gray. Some were plain, others were marbled. HOWEVER, very light gray (almost white) with speckles, were ReMarx / New Marx / Marx of Miami from the '90s. Also, the playset could contain any mix of colors. Unlike the green accessories which would have been all one shade in the set, one could get a gray Barney house, and a tan Fred house. From what I've seen, there were generally two variations in building colors per set.
While Fred and Wilma lived at 201 Cobblestone Lane, Barney and Betty lived next store at 301 Cobblestone Lane. As the series progressed, different writers placed different addresses to the houses in the scripts.
When I'm all through with my boxed playset posts, I'll be featuring my extra buildings in various color / shade variations as a separate round of posts. But first, let's get through the buildings that came in my boxed set.
