Well, I'm back in the Space man game :-) After a long hiatus I've rekindled the interest in vintage space men (spacemen - how would you spell it?). This 2 1/4"H hard plastic figure was bought as an unknown manufacturer offering but I've since learned that it was made by Lido for T. Cohn and included in T. Cohn's Space Port playset. He's a holding a..... Umm, yeah, your guess is as good as mine. A Ray Gun, force field generator, portable radar? - anything you want it to be I guess. The set is a classic '50s offering with a beautiful tin-litho space port building and cannon, aset of space men, and a set of funky looking aliens. Apparently the figures (at least the spacem men) were made in hard plastic as well as soft plastic. To-date I don't have any of them in the collection aside from this one. I kinda hate to just feature one lone figure out of a set but s'pose this is notice that The Hunt Is On! hahahaha Enjoy! Opa Fritz and Oma Bettina
The spaceman seems to be holding a beer hand pump from his local pub. No doubt it is a souvenir of his last trip to earth.
ReplyDeleteYa know, I never thought of that! It does look like a pump handle doesn't it? Maybe that's why he needs the race car - to get to the pub faster :-)
