Britains Deetail 54MM Mounted Storm Knight No. 698

For those of us growing up in the '50s and '60s we know that bad guys always wore black. The train robbing cowboys wore black caps and villainous knights donned black armor. I mean, that dictated our youthful perception of the world - bad guys always wore black. Of course as we grew up we slowly found out that, quite to the contrary, bad guys too often looked just like everyone else making it harder to distinguish friend from foe. That being said, Britains took on this 'bad guys wear black' theme with their set of Storm Knights starting around 1980/81 (I'm not exactly sure when they started marketing Storm Knights). Okay, to be clear, nothing on the packaging says that, just because these guys are in black armor, that they're the baddies but I'll bet you that's how kids saw them.

This set of mounted Storm Knights consists of five riders in five poses. Britains made six different poses of Deetail Knights but only five were a part of this set. The originals had silver painted armor while these guys were painted black. Regardless of color, they are a terrific looking bunch of toy knights. Enjoy! Opa Fritz and Oma Bettina
