Northern Flicker Woodpecker

It's that time of year again and we're seeing the woodpecker's come to our neck of the cactus. We don't see birds with much by the way of bright colors in the desert - mostly blacks, grays, browns, tans - but this combination of white, black, and gray makes up for it. The Northern Flicker has beautiful markings doesn't it? Bettina caught this one in a neighbor's tree. Enjoy! Opa Fritz and Oma Bettina
