CIRCUS TIME: K-Line KUN-6900-05 Baggage Wagon (yellow sides, orange roof, green floor, gold running gear)

Here's another of my early purchases: the K-Line KUN-6900-05 Baggage Wagon in header bag.

Baggage wagons hauled - as their name would imply - baggage. More specifically anything and everything that would fit in them. The circus employed a lot of people and they needed nearly all the things one would expect of anyone living in a house, plus whatever was required to actually put on a show for the public. There were also other utility wagons for hauling the canvas tents, tent poles, dining department supplies, generators, stake drivers and others.

After starting to collect O-scale circus toys, the only maker I was really familiar with was K-Line. The K-Line wagons were released about the 1997 time frame along with circus trains and accessories and they came in about six different designs in multiple colors. This particular version is yellow, red, green, and gold but as one delves a bit deeper into circus history and lore you'll find that more often than not, baggage wagons were red with white bottoms and running gear.  The name of the circus was emblazoned in white or yellow on the sides and a number assigned and painted on the front and end panels.   The wagon measures 4 1/8" (10.47cm) L x 2 1/8" (5.39cm) W x 2 3/8" (6.03cm) H Enjoy!
