While Hardy has been featured on the blog before (a couple of horse drawn fire engines and circus wagons), it's been a while since I bought anything else of theirs. Being in an Old West frame of mind, I was piddling around fleaBay and about a month or so ago happened upon a couple of sales with a total of three Hardy Old West type wagons (for a good price but in various states of disrepair BTW). Of the three wagons, only one had a usable hitch and another one was missing pieces. I got around to photographing these Hardy wagons just this past week or so and basically cheated: I used the one good hitch for all three photo essay's! These wagons were all designed as floor toys. A length of string would be tied to a hole in the front of the hitch and as Junior pulled the toy along the floor, the horses would go up and down via the eccentric wheel with an offset crank attached to the horses rear legs.
I really love stagecoaches and thought this would make a great addition to any Old West scene. It measures 9" (22.86cm) L (tip of horses nose to back of trunk) x 2" (5.08cm) W x 2 5/8" (6.66cm) H. Enjoy! Opa Fritz
