As I purchase the various MPC ships, there is a nice variety creeping into my consciousness. The obvious difference here is the color. The original ships were at a minimum made in yellow, blue, and gray (I saw a photo of one boxed gray version) and who knows what else. The repos are usually in this chocolate brown color but I have one in the collection which is more of a reddish, rust-color. Just before taking the photos, I attached the anchor to the ship using a black thread. Maybe a heavier, more tan or brown colored thread would be better, but it's what I had. Also notice that the lanterns on the repo ships are different than those on the original. The masts on the original large ships were wooden dowels with sails that slipped over them. A later re-design by MPC to one-piece masts/sails are the ones we see today on the repos. Enjoy! Opa Fritz
