After setting up a couple of Pirate displays and the Halloween train layout, I've got at least one more use for the temporary display board in the living room: our Christmas train display. Last year was the first time any of my Christmas trains were set up in the living room - having previously been run in The Cave - and it featured Lionel's Polar Express and a variety of cast resin and ceramic buildings. This year it hosts a different type of display. All plastic buildings made by K-Line for Christmas, as well as a K-Line train. This means nearly everything will be of a more vintage nature as the train and at least one of K-Line's village's date to 1992.
While the train may date from 1992, I bought this set just a few months ago from one of the train group admins on facebook (aka Meta) - Thanx Dave! In 1992, none of K-Line's engines had any kind of sound: no horns, no bells, no whistles, so this engine is quite a silent runner - perfect for Santa getting into and out of town quietly! 😀
Here's the set write-up from the 1992 catalog
In Part 1 we'll show the box and basic contents followed by the photo essays for each piece in Part 2
