21st Century #20340 1/32 Scale Plastic P-51 Mustang 'SAMANTHA PAYTON' (2002)

Wow, it's hard to believe I actually got off my keester to photograph this beautiful airplane! It's been hanging from the ceiling for at least seven years now and after finding the original box while exploring The Cave, it was time to get the photos done.

The crowded skies over my train layout

The plane was hella dusty but after a good cleaning, it came out looking brand spanking new. First, the photos of the plane were taken,. then it was carefully disassembled, placed back in the box, and the box photos taken.

The plane is in a natural metal finished - common towards the end of the war when Americans gained air superiority over the Germans and no longer felt the need for camouflage (the added paint also caused added weight, which in turn meant decreased performance from the aircraft). The toy measures 11.875"L x 13.875" wingspan x 3.75"H (to top of canopy) and these are the features:

-The main landing gear retracts

-The propellor spins freely

-The tail wheel retracts and the doors close

-The drop tanks are removable

-The wing assembly is removable

I haven't found any photos of the real plane this may have been based on, but 21st Century was pretty good in it's details and the Internet, unfortunately, is not all that when it comes to thorough research.
